I couldn’t miss another occasion to hear the vetern roots singer Ijahman Levi live and in the club venue for the very first time. The mini-tour over Poland organized by Buxna Agency spanned Wroclaw and Warsaw and was reinforced by recognized Jamaican artists Fantan Mojah and I Wayne and a short set by Marlene Johnson.

Upon the first encounter, R.U.T.A. might sound like a curious, yet exotic and hardly approachable project out of Poland. But if you listen closely you will understand why it was critically acclaimed, got rave reviews in the music magazines and eventually became a prizewinner of the renowned “Polityka Passports” award.

It was the most significant show of the year for the dancehall massive of Poland, period. Cosy Alibi club was a host for the exclusive show of Beenie Man, the brightest star of Jamaican dancehall, regarded by many as a true king of the genre. Great band, a lengthy set and a relaxed star made it a truly unique evening.

One Love Festival’s tradition is to mix the very roots of Jamaican music with contemporary, popular reggae artists. One year it’s the Mighty Diamonds sharing the stage with Gentleman, the other - Alborosie occupying the line-up slot next to Pablo Moses. Alborosie, a “jamaicanised” Italian is back on the track with a fresh and successful album “2 Times Revolution”, featuring a number of hit songs and guest appearances by Junior Reid and Etana.

Wroclaw’s One Love Festival stands as a spark of joy enlightening the dull and monotonous autumn months. Offering a steady mix between modern reggae and the Jamaican classics, the festival became one of the most popular indoor reggae events in Europe. This year we had a chance to see the veteran roots singer Pablo Moses, for whom it was a first visit in Poland. Having seen Moses before performing at Summerjam, I was excited to meet the author of “Dubbing Is a Must” anthem again.
