Reggae Faces
"Reggae Faces" is a long-term project documenting over 50 years of Jamaican music development.
Looking at photos of artists key to the genre's development – vocalists, instrumentalists, and producers, we come face to face with icons of musical culture that has been developing in the Caribbean since the early sixties and continues to evolve worldwide today.
The photographs form a coherent narrative – they are a chronicle of reggae music's transformations and a record of a Polish photographer's encounters with its creators. The exhibition begins with a reminder of the island debut of Jamaican Derrick Harriott, born in 1939, and concludes by highlighting reggae's international success embodied by German star Gentleman.
Needless to say, this project is simply my love letter to Jamaica, its culture, music, and people.
